In our language course we offer a unique chance to practice both Swedish and Ukrainian, with the aim of strengthening participant’s self-esteem as well as maintaining their cultural identity. This is a place where many languages are spoken, which combines integration into Swedish society whilst honouring the participant’s native language giving them a personal and cultural flexibility. Our practical language course is adjusted to each individual’s level of knowledge and the programme aims to foster a feeling of safety both in the environment and within the group.

The language practice course, held on every other Thursday, is mainly focused on excursions, and to assist those with any difficulties that can arise in the process of learning a language. During the course, participants will become more confident using the new language in real-life situations in both their daily and professional life. Another important element of excursions is to give the participants empowerment by claiming the space in a typically homogenic, Swedish cultural place.

The lessons are hosted by our experienced teacher, Natasja. She adapt the learning to each individual, make sure the group is a safe space, and encourage participants to support one another outside the classroom, with the aim of creating a sustainable integration process. These lessons cover more than grammar and vocabulary, but also subjects such as history, culture and the arts.
